Frankfurt a. M., Germany, Sept 19 2022 – HCS Group, a leading international supplier of solutions for high-value hydrocarbon specialties, has inaugurated the hydrogenation unit at the Haltermann Carless’ Speyer production site in Germany with an official ribbon cutting ceremony. Around 50 guests from politics, representatives of government agencies and chemical associations, the fire department and neighbouring and partner companies joined the event.

In his opening speech, Henrik Krüpper, Chief Executive Officer of HCS Group, thanked all those involved in the realisation of the project. “The hydrogenation plant is a milestone for our production site in Speyer, and an important contribution to sustainability and innovation,” explained Henrik Krüpper and added: “Besides the production of high-purity products, such as those required for pharmaceutical applications, the hydrogenation unit enables the development of new products and the expansion of other innovative business areas, such as the production of sustainable aviation fuels. In this way, we secure our competitiveness on the international market and at the same time contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions with sustainable technology development and continuous investments.”

Investment in the future at the German Speyer site

With the investment in the high double-digit million range, HCS Group is committing itself to both Germany and Europe as a production location and to safeguarding jobs, while at the same time advancing sustainable technologies. In this way, the company is expanding Haltermann Carless’ position as the world’s leading manufacturer of Cyclopentane – an important additive for insulating materials, for example for building insulation. In the future, the hydrogenation unit will produce new grades of products, with a high degree of purity, for the pharmaceutical, electronics, printing ink and construction industries.
